Your sleeping space might scream out for new furniture and wall decor trends; but they might only thwart restorative rest.
Designers generally discourage bedroom sets – they’ll make your room look sterile and showroomish. But here’s where you can really add idiosyncratic charm: use bureaus and dressers you’ve found at antique stores, your parents’ old china cabinet, and other miscellanea that have once set up shop elsewhere over the course of your life. If it’s something personal and available, put it in your place.
Headboards as Statement Pieces
A statement headboard is the perfect starting point for bed decor ideas, the definition of which you can then colour in – within John Lewis, think the classic fabric styles or more arty, boutique hotel-style looks. Either way, pick something that either uses woven wood or rattan material for a classic look; or use a panel headboard that can take up less space and create a modern look. Panel headboards can also make the bedroom appear larger because it uses space more efficiently and makes the room seem more open. ‘Moody jewel tones and chocolate hues are popular for 2024,’ confirms the National Kitchen + Bath Association colour expert, ‘mid-tones are in’. And taupes and terra-cottas are considered ‘beige enough’ for neutrals. If they want some punch to these backdrops, colour experts point to a bedding set with a pleated, tufted or quilted design. For a romantic, feminine look; for a more laissez-faire feel, chose linens and duvets in soft neutrals for free-flowing styling.
Texture
According to designers, amid an onslaught of minimalist and modern design, more and more consumers are choosing to add bedroom style with textural elements on bedding sets like embroidered details and woven patterns that add dimension to the bedroom. Textured fabrics add dimension to bedrooms, which are often the most overlooked spaces when creating a decor scheme. Structures from salvaged wood, rugs using natural fibres including jute or seagrass, or other ecofriendly materials that reduce the carbon footprint. Consumers want their beds to be more eco-friendly, using, for examples sheets certified organic under the Global Organic Textile Standard, duvet covers made from certified organic linen, or duvets inserted in duvet covers that are also made from certified organic linen (duvet insers from the certified GOTS certified organic fabric certifications schemes such as GOTS certified organic cotton sheet or GOTS certified organic linen duvet covers, or duvet inserts GOTS certified by global organic textile standards or any other such certification schemes that reduce environmental impact, sheets or duvet covers ecofriendly and made with low carbon footprint materials (such as organic cotton sheets or duvet covers/duvet inserts, e.g., certified GOTS certified organic cotton sheets, GOTS certified organic linen duvet covers, or GOTS certified linen duvets), and uses certified organic textile standards (such as under GOTS certification; for example GOTS certified organic cotton sheets or GOTS certified organic linen duvet covers/duvet inserts which are made by the certified GOTS certified organic linen duvets under the GOTS certification of course, or whole organic breadlake of the GOTS certified organic fabrics, and so forth, e.g., GOTS certified global organic textile standards testing system, and so forth). Bedrooms are arguably the most intimate place to free your creativity and reflect your individual style. Layers of Throw Pillows
A well-chosen throw pillow can make virtually any bed look and feel better, adding accent colour or eye-catching pattern to otherwise dull rooms. A luxurious stack of throw pillows in a gradient assortment of sizes and shapes might be the simplest bedroom décor trend of 2024, but it will never go out of style. Beginning with a neutral base to your pillow nest, whether you choose a white, gray or tan colour, provides the groundwork for colourful, patterned and textural coverings that will make the look interesting and keep the room feeling fun and fresh. Swapping out your pillow covers regularly is an easy way to refresh it as well. So now add in an additional centre of pillows, this will be an assortment of medium-sized pillows including the standard sleeping pillows, decorative pillows with an interesting shape, such as those used as bolsters and lumbar pillows are becoming a mainstay in luscious beds. Now create one focal-point pillow into your look, hang onto your hats when you see all the options that exist these days, choose from a monogram to uniquely shaped decorative pillows, to new textures on velvet pillows – any ideas here.
Romance
Beds which, when styled up, are the focal point in your bedroom and follow up-to-date design trends. Fashion beds and bedding set your sleeping environment on a trendy footing while creating a cosy yet intimate atmosphere that combines both refinity and elegance. An ultra-pretty headboard will add finishing touches to your bedroom for a seductive twist. Whether tufted, padded or faux-upholstered, it makes the biggest visual impact and feels the coziest. A headboard featuring carved wood trim adds the finishing sophisticated touch. Either way, once installed, dress it up further with soft materials and colours that speak to your romantic side. Then toughen it up a bit and add some subtle romance with simple linen sheets and duvet topped with an oversize vintage embroidered coverlet and printed shams. Don’t be too willing to pile pillows and blankets that can easily become too firm and bury that minimalist concept. Try it out. Take the risk and turn your bedroom into a welcoming oasis and an extension of your personal fashion statement.
